Carpe Diem

CARPE DIEM !!!! Seize the day!  What does this mean to us now in this season of recession , uncertainty, and in many cases just monotony?   When Horace first said " Carpe Diem "  he was saying live and enjoy today because the future is not promised.  However, in this season, I think we can take it one step further.   We should live and enjoy today definitely, purposefully but not at all recklessly.

 This is the time to Seize our visions for our future and make them a reality.  Russell Simmons, hip hop mogul in the book,  "Do You!  12 Laws to Access the Power  In You To Achieve Happiness And Success", explains" "in my experience , there's only one thing that will always steer you toward success;  That's to have a vision and to stick with it." he goes on to explain, "When sailors used to get lost in a storm, they' d always look for the North Star for guidance.  They could use that star to help them get their bearings because it never moved in the sky. You have to use your vision the same way. "

Scripturally speaking, Matthew 6:25-34  gives us yet another perspective;
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Basically, seize the day can be interpreted for each of us to do  what Horace, Russell Simmons and  the Apostle Matthew wrote.

We should Focus on both our vision and the quality of our lives in order to truly Seize the Day.
We must seize every opportunity to love and enjoy family and friends.
We must seize every opportunity to follow our passion and create a sound plan to catapult us into a season of abundance and success.
We must seize the opportunity to stay completely self- evaluative and reflective.
We must seize the amazing gift it is to believe in something higher than ourselves and trust and have FAITH in his unceasing love and guidance.

Carpe Diem!  Find joy in all things! and Strive Daily!
